Safety: It is recommended that all young children should wear safety goggles when playing with bubbles to prevent any soap splashes going into their eyes – these can be purchased for our store.
Important Notes:
- Bubble solution often contains surfactants and mild detergents that, when introduced to the eyes, may cause temporary irritation. This irritation is typically mild but can cause discomfort if not promptly addressed.
- If the child wears contact lenses, remove them as soon as possible and continue the rinsing procedure.
- For children with known sensitivities or allergies to ingredients in the bubble solution, it’s crucial to err on the side of caution and seek medical advice.
How to Rinse a Child’s Eyes with Water After Bubble Solution Gets in
- Stay Calm: Comfort the child and reassure them that you are going to help them feel better.
- Position the Child: Gently guide the child to a safe area, such as a sink, bathtub, or near a clean water source. You can sit them down or help them stand, depending on their age and comfort.
- Flush the Eyes:
- Use clean, lukewarm water: Ensure the water is neither too hot nor too cold.
- Direct the flow: You can either:
- Pour: Use a clean cup or container to gently pour water over the child’s closed eyelid, allowing the water to wash away the bubble solution.
- Spray or Gentle Stream: If you’re using a gentle spray or a bottle with a nozzle, lightly spray the water directly into the eye.
- Have the Child Blink: Encourage the child to blink their eyes a few times to help flush out the solution.
- Continue Rinsing: Keep rinsing for 5–10 minutes to ensure that the eyes are thoroughly cleaned. If the child seems uncomfortable or is still experiencing irritation, rinse for a bit longer.
- Check for Irritation: After rinsing, check the child’s eyes for any redness, excessive watering, or discomfort. If the eyes still appear irritated or the child is in pain, consider contacting a healthcare professional for further guidance.
- If the Child is in Severe Discomfort or Pain: If symptoms persist or worsen (such as intense redness, swelling, or the child continues to complain of pain), seek medical attention immediately.
This process should help remove any remaining bubble solution and prevent further irritation. Keep a close eye on the child afterward and comfort them as needed.
